Receiver 13.6 for Linux
Release Date: Jul 11, 2017
Receiver for Linux enables users to access virtual desktops and hosted applications delivered by XenDesktop and XenApp from devices running the Linux operating system. Receiver for Linux is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Russian.
New Features in this Release
- Adaptive transport
- Adaptive transport for XenApp and XenDesktop optimizes data transport by leveraging a new Citrix protocol called EDT (Enlightened Data Transport) in preference to TCP whenever possible. Compared to TCP and UDP, EDT delivers a superior user experience on challenging long-haul WAN and Internet connections, while maintaining high server scalability and efficient use of bandwidth. EDT is built on top of UDP and improves data throughput for all ICA virtual channels including Thinwire display remoting, file transfer (Client Drive Mapping), printing, multimedia redirection and others. When UDP is not available, adaptive transport automatically reverts to TCP.
- You must enable the HDX adaptive transport policy setting in Citrix Studio. You can disable it from Receiver settings.
- Currently this feature is supported only for direct connections without going through NetScaler Gateway.
- Joint Server Certificate Validation Policy - Citrix Receiver for Linux 13.6 and later introduces a new, stricter, validation policy for server certificates to ensure a continuous improvement of client security. For more information, see Knowledge Center articles CTX224709 and CTX221453.

Selecting the appropriate package
The difference between packages that offer support for Web Receiver and those that support self-service is that the latter packages include dependencies required for self-service in addition to those needed for the Web Receiver. Dependencies for self-service are a superset of those required for Web Receiver, but the files installed are identical.
If you only require Web Receiver support, or your distribution doesn’t have the necessary packages to support self-service then install the Web Receiver only package.
If your distribution allows, install Receiver from the Debian package or RPM package. These files are generally easier to use because they automatically install any required packages. If you want to control the installation location, install Receiver from the tarball package.
