Now Citrix can deliver macOS desktop sessions to any device!

Citrix enables enterprise IT to deliver secure application access to users around the globe.  With millions of Windows, Linux, Web, and SaaS applications launched every month, it’s not often that we get to announce support for a new platform— today, we’re excited to announce that Citrix DaaS can now securely deliver macOS desktops to any device.

Built using Citrix HDX technology, Citrix DaaS provides a high-definition user experience, along with enterprise-grade management, security, and observability.

Optimized for Apple Silicon, the Citrix VDA for macOS offers Single Sign-On, an enhanced user experience with USB device redirection and HDX screen sharing, and enhanced video conferencing through webcam redirection. It supports macOS host devices using M1 or later chipsets and the latest three generations of macOS.

The rise of Mac in enterprise environments

Enterprises of all types have critical communities of macOS users within their environments.  From mobile app developers to graphic designers, Citrix now enables IT to deliver a remote macOS desktop for key macOS users including:

  • Remote development: Secure, remote Xcode development can accelerate your iOS, macOS, and visionOS development and testing, particularly for distributed workforces or flexible workforce teams where security and IP protection is a top priority.
  • Design, illustration, and video: Professionals in multimedia and entertainment industries (film, audio, games, 3D simulations) who rely on macOS-based applications for daily activities can now leverage powerful Mac hardware from any endpoint device, anytime, anywhere.
  • Specialized applications: Citrix offers unparalleled flexibility for both end users and administrators. If your organization uses specialized Mac applications, Citrix DaaS makes it easier than ever to deliver these applications to end users.

Investing in key partnerships

We continue to invest in our partnerships and build new solutions to help you improve your IT environment. Apple and the Apple ecosystem are a key component of design and development, and this new milestone in Mac remoting enables new use cases for secure distributed workforces. This new capability of Citrix DaaS increases IT flexibility, so you can deploy mission-critical applications and desktops on macOS.

We are also excited to partner with vendors providing access to Mac hardware, for organizations who want to rapidly scale their Mac footprint. We currently support MacStadium, a leader in IaaS with macOS hardware across their data centers, as well as Amazon EC2 Mac instances
