If you missed it, make sure you check out our roadmap blogs on how we’re planning to enhance user experiences, protect apps and data, reduce operational complexity, and maximize efficiency for your Citrix deployments. Read on for more on why Citrix has better features, is a better value, and our current incentive for customers switching to Citrix.
Advantages of Citrix over VMware Horizon
Citrix offers better hybrid options, has no vendor lock-in, streamlines your environment management, and features better remote protocol with HDX. Over the past couple of years, we heard from you that not everything in your environment will move to the cloud. Whether that’s because you need to keep some of your data on premises for data privacy, application performance or simply cost considerations, for most of you a hybrid solution is the best fit. To achieve this with VMware Horizon, you have to deploy Horizon and Horizon Cloud in parallel, meaning you have to manage two environments, that only provide some level of unified management, to create a hybrid solution. With Citrix, you can manage on-premises and cloud resources side-by-side for a streamlined experience.
We also know that only you know which vendors are right for your business. VMware Horizon does not provide native cloud integration with any hyperscaler, you have to use hosted vSphere solutions such as VMware Cloud on AWS which is expensive and not available to all geographies. Citrix on the other hand integrates with all major on-prem and cloud platforms, providing your choice and flexibility. . This flexibility also extends into the area of security, where Citrix provides unique, context-aware security policies and application access, ensuring the right level of security is applied dynamically, which increases user experience and the overall security of the solution at the same time. In addition, Citrix also offers a more mature security functionality related to security analytics, warermarking, or screenshot and keylogging protection, which are far more capable than Horizon’s equivalents. So you can more securely deliver applications and desktops anywhere, on any device.
Lastly, Citrix HDX is the industry leading remote protocol, which delivers high quality audio, video, and graphics to users on any device. VMware’s Blast protocol can’t deliver the same high frame rate as HDX, and it has a higher CPU consumption which decreases user density on shared virtual desktops and increases resource consumption. Not only does Citrix deliver a better user experience, but it can do so without increasing your resource consumption.
The Citrix platform for cost-effective VDI solutions
Now that VMware Horizon and Workspace ONE are no longer part of Broadcom, you will need separate licenses for the EUC solution (Omnissa) and the vSphere platform (Broadcom). Omnissa has signed a resell agreement with Broadcom, which enables customers to sign a single PO to get both licenses, as outlined in the KB article. Omnissa has also promised to not follow the example set by Broadcom and raise prices dramatically for Horizon. BUT it remains unclear who will pay for the now significantly more expensive vSphere platform. At the moment it appears unlikely that Omnissa will absorb the cost, which leaves the customer exposed.
With the Citrix platform you get everything you need from the leader in EUC under one licensing agreement. This includes Citrix app and desktop virtualization, NetScaler application delivery, Citrix security solutions, session recording, and support services. That means simplified licensing for you and simplified solutions for your IT department. With our new Citrix Platform License, we’re also offering unlimited capacity so you can easily expand your deployments as your business grows, without the need to purchase more licenses. With all the change as a result of the sale of VMware EUC solutions, there’s never been a better time to switch to Citrix.
Current incentives to switch to Citrix
The thought of having to switch providers may be daunting, but with our current incentives we’re making it easier than ever for you to switch to Citrix. There has never been a better time to make the leap to the leading provider of EUC solutions. We’re offering three different incentives so every customer will benefit from switching.
New customers: Any new customer that invests in a three year Citrix subscription with an annual spend of over $50,000 will receive a credit for one year of service
Existing customers: Existing customers may be eligible for unlimited capacity with the Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud License or a 10% credit on their next renewal. Contact your Citrix representative for more details.
That’s not all either. We’re also offering a joint services initiative with our Citrix partners, where we’ll help subsidize your migration costs to Citrix, so you can maximize your IT budget.
