We’ve rigorously tested Sonoma’s beta releases within the native Citrix Workspace app for macOS to ensure a seamless transition when you upgrade your Mac devices to Sonoma. Launching the Citrix Workspace app from Sonoma guarantees immediate access to all your apps, desktops, and data—reflecting the same seamless experience you’ve come to love from previous macOS versions.

Rest assured, the Citrix Workspace app for Mac 2309 extends its support to macOS 13 Ventura (13.5.2), macOS 12 Monterey (12.6.9), and macOS 11 Big Sur (11.7.10). Please refer to the Citrix app’s system requirements and compatibility page for more information. (Note: Support for macOS Big Sur is set to conclude in March 2024.)

What’s New in the Citrix Workspace App?

Native Support for Apple Silicon: The Citrix Workspace app for macOS now natively supports Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and M2 Series) through a universal architecture. This universal architecture enables the Citrix Workspace app to run seamlessly on both Apple silicon and Intel-based Mac computers without requiring Rosetta emulation.

Quick Access Menu for Stores: Enjoy swift navigation to your favorite apps and desktops using the new quick access feature for both cloud and on-premises stores. You can also access your preferred data directly from the Mac menu bar.

Effortlessly Access Recent and Favorite Apps with the Quick Access Menu. Streamline Resource Management with Activity Manager.

Passwordless Authentication with FIDO2: You can now securely authenticate using passwordless FIDO2 security keys when connecting to the Citrix client app for macOS. This feature supports various security inputs such as security pins, biometrics, card swipe, smart cards, and Public Key Certificates. It is generally available inCitrix Cloud and is available in Tech preview for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

Auto-Update Version Control: Administrators can now gain control over the auto-updated version of the Citrix Workspace app on managed devices. Manage the version range by configuring the maximumAllowedVersion and minimumAllowedVersion properties in the Global App Config Service.

Enhancements for Optimized Microsoft Teams: Experience an array of enhancements for optimized Microsoft Teams calls, including background blurring and replacement, simulcast support for video conference calls, and preventing screen sleep during Teams meetings.

Support for Continuity Camera: Utilize your iPhone as a webcam with the Continuity Camera feature. Whether wired or wireless, this feature offers high-quality image capabilities.

Enhanced Network Congestion Control: Our proprietary transport protocol, Enlightened Data Transport (EDT), has been refined to efficiently manage network congestion, enhancing data throughput, and minimizing latency for a smoother experience.

Policy Tampering Detection via App Protection: Our new policy tampering detection feature ensures that your virtual app or desktop session remains secure. If it detects any tampering with App Protection anti-screen capture and anti-keylogging policies, it will terminate the session for your protection.

Improved Graphics Performance: We’ve significantly boosted graphics performance to ensure smooth app sessions for you. This optimization also reduces CPU usage, delivering a more efficient experience.

Get More Done with Interactive Widgets: Widgets on Mac are now more powerful and personal than ever before. We’re actively developing our Citrix Workspace app for macOS to fully embrace the exciting features of Mac widgets. Soon, users will have the ability to place widgets directly on their desktops and conveniently access the widget gallery to find their favorite or frequently used virtual desktops and web applications. Unlock Simplicity and Security with Passkeys: Passkeys provide a safer and more convenient alternative to traditional passwords. Users can effortlessly sign in to the Citrix Workspace app using biometric sensors like fingerprints or facial recognition, a PIN, or a pattern—no more memorizing and managing passwords. We’re actively developing this feature and will be rolling it out soon!

Seamless Multitasking with Stage Manager: We’re enhancing the Citrix Workspace app to take full advantage of Apple’s Stage Manager feature, offering improved multitasking capabilities on macOS Sonoma.
