There has been no lack of exciting news coming from the Citrix and Google partnership this year. From introducing two new purpose-built Citrix DaaS editions in the Google Marketplace to rolling out new technical capabilities like Citrix Provisioning Service for Google Cloud and Citrix Image Portability Service, we are continuing to add value for our joint customers.
Recently, we also made a number of announcements at Google Next 2022. We introduced a new Quick Deploy interface to get Citrix DaaS workloads up and running on Google Cloud more quickly than ever. We also started offering Citrix-prepared images to take the guesswork out of building optimized images for your deployments to save time and effort.

We rounded out our announcements by introducing upcoming support for a Google Cloud-hosted Citrix DaaS control plane in the EU. We are excited to say that the wait is over, and the control plane is now available for our European customers!

Why deploy the Europe-based Citrix DaaS control plane on Google Cloud?
Earlier this year, we launched two new Google-specific Citrix DaaS editions — Citrix DaaS Standard and Citrix DaaS Premium for Google Cloud — that are fully hosted on Google Cloud. This was an important step for organizations wanting all their resources hosted and managed through the Google Cloud console. Until now, the Citrix control plane on Google Cloud was U.S.-based. It was always on our roadmap to continue to expand beyond the US for organizations who have strict data sovereignty laws tied to data location. That is why we are now introducing a control plane that is based in the EU to offer those organizations more choices for their highly secured environments.
What does this new control plane mean for me?
Data sovereignty was top of mind when developing this control plane. At Google Cloud Next, the Google Cloud Sovereign Solutions were announced to continue to empower European customers. Citrix is proud to be a part of the Google Cloud Sovereign Solutions ISV ecosystem, and we are committed to continuing to expand upon our capabilities with Google Cloud Sovereign Solutions.
Our first big step in doing this is introducing the Europe-based Citrix DaaS control plane. GDPR is top of mind for European organizations, and having data hosted in the EU is not only great for access but also may be a strict requirement of your organization. As an organization with some, or all, your resources in Europe, you can now choose to run Citrix DaaS on the Europe-based control plane.
Additionally, we are introducing two new Google Cloud-hosted Citrix Gateway points-of-presence (PoPs) based in Europe. In tandem with the data security you gain from the control plane being hosted in Europe, your admins now have improved performance because data is closer to them than ever. One PoP is in northern Europe while the other is in central Europe. No matter where your resources are located, your end-user experience will be optimized using our comprehensive network of Citrix Gateway service PoPs.
How can organizations take advantage of this new control plane?
Taking advantage of this new control plane is as simple as purchasing Citrix DaaS licenses through the Google Cloud Marketplace and specifying a Citrix Cloud account based in the EU region. Your licenses will automatically be provisioned on the European control plane after you make your Marketplace purchase.
