Citrix Workspace app enables any user on any device to connect to their work-related apps and desktops. Whether you’re on a BYO device or a company-managed device, this intuitive app helps you connect with business-critical resources with just one click.

However, delivering this level of flexibility and choice to users can sometimes add complexity for IT admins. Some challenges we’ve heard from Citrix IT admins include:

  • The many available ways to configure the end-user settings for Citrix Workspace app (e.g., registry keys, group policies, ICA file settings, config files, etc.) can lead to confusion and overhead.
  • Because Citrix Workspace app is supported on several operating system platforms, with each platform requiring a unique configuration of the Citrix Workspace app settings, Citrix admins end up configuring the same settings, multiple times, for different platforms.
  • Configuring settings for BYO devices can be time-consuming and complex. Often users are required to manually configure their Citrix Workspace app settings based on recommendations from their admin, which can lead to a poor end-user experience and more help desk tickets for IT.

To solve these potential challenges, we’re excited to announce the availability of the Citrix Global App Configuration service UI in preview! This centralized service from Citrix enables IT admins to configure Citrix Workspace app settings easily and seamlessly for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, HTML5, and Chrome OS. The Global App Configuration service ensures that admins can push the settings to end users from one interface, without the need to navigate to each platform. Both IT-managed devices and BYO devices can be easily managed and controlled through this new service.

As an admin, you simply need to configure the desired settings for Citrix Workspace app through the service, which is available through APIs. The configuration is per store URL and applies to Citrix Workspace app instances with the store URL added. Citrix Workspace app will then update its settings from the Global App Configuration service every few hours.

Get started by leveraging the beta version of the Global App Configuration service UI. Simply log in to Citrix Cloud and navigate to “Workspace Configuration” The “App Configuration (Beta)” tab will provide you with a list of Citrix Workspace app settings that you can configure from this interface. Then, with just a few clicks, you can deliver Citrix Workspace app settings to your end users.
