Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are the No. 1 reason a business goes offline. If your company can’t mitigate a DDoS attack, it can affect your business in serious ways:
- A DDoS attack could result in a monetary damage from disruptions to your business, lost productivity, and more that can affect your bottom line (and that’s on top of losing customers).
- You will see an operational impact as your team scrambles to manage operations during an attack. And paying to have services fixed and restored can be costly.
- You also must consider the potential reputation damage to your brand. A DDoS attack can leave you with dissatisfied customers, partners, and employees. A loss of customer trust can undo all the brand building your company has worked so hard to do.
- Companies can face legal exposure around potentially breaching SLAs, as well as being liable for customer losses. You might also get hit with fines, and there could be compliance and regulatory repercussions depending on your line of business.
DDoS attacks are also often accompanied by a demand for money — a ransom — to withdraw a threat or end an attack. However, in addition to money lost, complying with a ransom demand can lead to a business becoming a target for similar attacks in the future or even being attacked again after complying.
Citrix DDoS Protection Service
Citrix’s DDoS Protection Service is built to meet customers’ security needs in an increasingly flexible working world. This as-a-service offering protects against various attack vectors, is easy to use and scale, provides outstanding network coverage, and offers specialized options that can help you align your security strategy with your budget.
Protect Against Various Attack Vectors
Citrix’s DDoS Protection Service provides comprehensive protection against many DDoS attack vectors. Whether they’re network layer attacks, UDP floods, or application layer attacks, Citrix can detect and mitigate these actions. Our advanced packet filtering can prevent attacks that contain a unique payload data pattern. Examples of commonly used attacks include Layer 3 and 4 attacks, “burst” attacks, SYN floods, NTP/SSDP/DNS amplification, as well as L7 attacks. Whether your apps are deployed in hybrid multi-cloud or on premises, they will be protected.
Delivered aaS
Citrix DDoS Protection Service is easy to deploy, manage, and scale, and it only takes about 30 minutes to get set up. Onboarding is simple and requires minimal set up, and configuration of rules and policies is intuitive. We also keep you up to date with the latest protections. As you grow, we can grow with you. With a simple license upgrade, increasing capacity just takes minutes.
Global Coverage and Scale
Citrix’s aaS DDoS Protection Service can effectively filter attack traffic as soon an attack starts. With 14 global points of presence (PoPs) providing over 12 terabits per second of scrubbing capacity, our infrastructure can handle even the largest attacks (the largest attack in 2021 was projected to be 3 Tbps).
Specialized Options to Suit Your Budget and Security Strategy
Customers often need protection that’s unique for their size, growth rate, and industry. Citrix provides standalone DDoS protection or a solution integrated with WAF, bot management, and API protection. We also provide Always-On and On-Demand options. An integrated solution provides holistic protection across application vectors — web requests and APIs — in addition to bot management that protects against non-DDoS threats. However, some customers prefer to maintain their WAF on premises and are only looking for DDoS in the cloud, making standalone a better choice for them.
With Always-On mitigation, traffic is always routed to scrubbing centers to remove malicious traffic before it goes to the application servers. With On-Demand mitigation, application requests are, under normal conditions, sent directly to the application servers. When an attack occurs, traffic switches to the DDoS mitigation provider to scrub.
Citrix makes both options available to customers. Customer may prefer traffic always being directed via scrubbing centers, providing constant protection and no potential down time with Always-On. Or they may prefer having On-Demand so during normal operations there is zero added latency — and a lower cost. You should consider talking to your customer about the frequency with which they might be attacked. Always-On might be the best choice if attack attempts are frequent and if they can’t afford any downtime of mission-critical apps.
Why Citrix?
The DDoS Protection Service’s scrubbing capability offers a worldwide presence to deliver clean traffic globally, with minimal added latency. Additionally, the automation of the system makes it easy to use and highly effective, and the automation increases protections when and as needed. It provides route-triggered mitigation as well as auto-escalation when necessary. Citrix DDoS Protection Service also protects against all forms of DDoS attacks, even multi vector. And we are able to provide coverage to apps deployed in cloud, multi-cloud, datacenter, or hybrid. And finally, Citrix offers 24/7 round the year support backed by SLAs.
