Back in April, during Earth Week, we challenged our developer community to create microapps with a sustainability theme, offering a range of prizes, including 5,000 trees planted in the winning team’s name. Our community went to work, submitted their entries, and we can now reveal the winners!
Citrite Prize Winner
The winning entry from a Citrix-employee team was “Green Challenge” by G Namratha Reddy and Subrat Behera from the Citrix Cloud Platform engineering team in Bangalore, India. Congratulations, Namratha and Subrat!
The team created a fun challenge platform, nudging users to change their behavior by, for example, skipping a plastic straw when they get a soft drink. Users can set challenges for each other to accept and complete, while badges and a leaderboard bring a fun element of competition. The judges were particularly impressed with the “fit and finish” of this entry; the microapps scored highly for usability and the video clearly explains the system. See for yourself:
Grand Prize Winner
Brick Bridge Consulting is no stranger to the Citrix Microapp Hackathon podium, winning the Most Innovative award at the very first Citrix Converge, in October 2019; the Business Value award at the April 2020 Citrix Virtual Hackathon; and and the Grand Prize at the Citrix Converge 2020 Hackathon last November. This time, Team Brick Bridge took to the road, showing Citrix Workspace on the Tesla Model 3 touchscreen. Their entry — “Does Elon love Workspace?” — featured microapps retrieving climate data from Weather API, controlling Ecobee smart thermostats remotely, offsetting their carbon footprint via Jotform and Stripe, and much more. The breadth of functionality in the Brick Bridge entry wowed the judges, as did the Gen X-friendly finale!
Congratulations, Team Brick Bridge!
