With a score of 90 percent, Citrix has been named for a second year in a row to the 2020 Disability Equality Index® Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). This designation is especially significant this year because 2020 is the 30th anniversary of the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is the preeminent benchmarking tool for the Fortune 1000 to gauge their level of disability workplace inclusion against competitors. Over the six-year history of the DEI, one thing is undeniably clear: disability inclusion and equality is good business. This is supported by research from Accenture, which reveals that companies that embrace best practices for employing and supporting persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers. The research also shows that these companies were, on average, twice as likely to have higher total shareholder returns than those of their peer group.
For 2020, the DEI measured each company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion; external recruitment efforts geared toward hiring individuals with disabilities; written disability accommodation procedure for requesting a disability accommodation; providing philanthropic support to external disability-related organizations; a global policy of disability inclusive standards; a disability-focused supplier diversity program; mental health benefits above and beyond what is required by federal law; and a diversity council with a mission statement that specifically includes disability inclusion.
“We are pleased to be recognized by the Disability Equality Index for our efforts. At Citrix, we are continuously working to create an environment of belonging, where we all feel that we fit in, can take risks and are empowered to contribute to the business as ourselves,” said Donna Kimmel, Chief People Officer, Citrix.
