Many years ago, I used to work in the developer tools industry. In fact, my first company sold C++ class libraries as our main product.
Does that date me?
It’s almost amazing to look back and remember when people paid for things like class libraries and integrated developer environments (IDE). The economics of IT was shifting in some fundamental ways. Open source was one big driver. Working in the developer tools industry, we saw the changes firsthand and knew we had to evolve, too.
There’s a saying: “Developers don’t buy things — they join things.” This is as true today as it was in 2003. It’s a fundamental truth that developers love being part of communities. Having recently launched intelligent features within Citrix Workspace, we now have a software development platform at Citrix.
Back in October, we tested the waters by inviting 100 developers to join us to preview the platform at our first developer conference, Citrix Converge. It was a big success! (Make sure you watch the keynote below.) Now it’s time to take this to the next level in our quest to build a vibrant community.
We’ve launched a new Citrix Developer Program aimed squarely at Citrix Workspace. The program is free to join, and it’s going to be your gateway to all the resources you need to get started and become a member of our community. Getting started guides, videos and test/dev environments are now all at your fingertips.
Want to learn more? Start with the the announcement about the program, or just dive in and go to our new Citrix Workspace Developer portal! We’ve made it easy to sign up, so you’ll be sure to get info on all the fun things coming up soon, including the next iteration of Citrix Converge. Don’t miss out!
