Founded in 1971 with a specialty in mainframe computing, CompuData has transformed over the years, and now offers cloud hosting, IT security services, managed IT services, and business application solutions — specializing in numerous Financial Management, ERP and CRM systems.
A woman-owned business based in Philadelphia, CompuData serves customers across the U.S., and even globally. They specialize in the manufacturing and distribution verticals, but also have customers across all verticals, including financial services, professional services, SaaS/ Technology, healthcare and nonprofit organizations.
“What makes us different as a technology provider, is that some firms might focus on one or two of these areas, but rarely do you see a company spread across all four of these pillars (cloud hosting, IT security services, managed IT services, and business application solutions),” said Ed Guarrieri, VP of Technology at CompuData. “We’re able to do a complete business process assessment of a company and are able to offer software solutions customized to their business. We can deploy it on the customer’s premises, in a public cloud or in our CompuData cloud. Then we can layer on top of that all of the managed services, security solutions, and support to give customers a complete end-to-end solution that aligns with their goals.”
Evaluating the industry trends of shifting to cloud computing and SaaS applications, CompuData is continuing to transform themselves to deliver the future of work to their customers.
Citrix Ready-Validated Cloud Workspace Solution from CompuData
CompuData was recently validated as a Citrix Ready Citrix Service Provider (CSP) and is a Premier-level CSP. CompuData’s Cloud Workspace, built on CompuData Cloud and powered by Citrix, delivers a complete work solution giving customers the freedom to focus on their business. CompuData hosts all of their customers’ applications, data, and technology systems in a secure data center and provides secure remote access with Citrix Workspace.
CompuData builds out a dedicated cloud environment tailored to each customer’s needs and becomes their complete cloud technology partner. Customers are able to reduce capital expenses on upfront server hardware refreshes and server licensing, as well as by embracing BYOD, with the simplicity of a predictable monthly subscription.
With the ability to access apps and data from anywhere, CompuData’s Cloud Workspace delivers new levels of employee productivity and collaboration, as they have the same access and experiences from any device — whether they are at the corporate office, remote office, home office, or working on the go. This also enables the business agility for customers to easily expand to new locations, onboard employees quicker, tap into a global talent pool, and seamlessly scale as they grow. With CompuData Cloud, customers will realize the benefits of aligning business processes across all of their remote locations.
“We have a lot of customers that have multiple offices locations around the country, and many times they have different systems and different processes at each location,” Guarrieri said. “By centralizing our customer’s apps and data, we are able to unify their disjointed business units. This improves the efficiency of how these businesses operate and even enables them to save money by standardizing processes across all office locations.”
A Focus on Security, Accessibility, and Compliance
Customers can also be assured that their data is accessible and secure, as CompuData architects for security with completely isolated environments on a per customer basis, plus data encryption, strict access control, and 24/7 monitoring and backups.
To meet a customer’s regulatory needs, CompuData can build out cloud environments for numerous industry compliances, including ISO, NIST, ITAR, Finra, HIPAA, and GDPR. Guarrieri notes that they are seeing a lot of new business driven by compliance, as CompuData can help customers reach these regulations, allowing their customers to maintain existing contracts and even earn new business.
CompuData also replicates the environment and all of its data to a remote data center location, in an active/passive state with automated failover processes — providing a guaranteed 99.99 percent uptime and accessibility of applications and data.
“Our Cloud Workspace is all about providing superior user experience and increased productivity for our customers, but at the same time we have a huge emphasis on providing security and high availability to our customer’s business critical application and data,” said Drew Rosado, VCIO at CompuData.
What Makes CompuData Unique as a CSP?
Their specialization in ERP and CRM technology solutions.
CompuData specializes in the Epicor ERP, Sage 100, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and Sage CRM systems. They have software developers on staff to customize and develop system integrations of their customer’s business applications to support their customer’s business processes.
Not only do they have many technical consultants and developers, but they also have consultants that are CPAs, or have accounting backgrounds. Having a deep understand of their customer’s business processes and how the employees use the applications on a daily basis is crucial to developing a true partnership with each customer. This enables CompuData to support the complete lifecycle of these business applications — from hosting and supporting to customizing for each customer’s business processes.
“With our business application practice, we cover the complete lifecycle of the Accounting, ERP and CRM platforms for our customers. From selling the application to implementing and customizing it, all the way to providing 24×7 support,” Rosado said. “Whether a customer needs a custom developed report or is having a printing issue, they can pick up the phone and call us.”
CompuData’s Plans for the Future of Work with Citrix Workspace
While CompuData has been customizing enterprise application for decades, they are continuously developing new ways to add value and drive productivity for their customers.
Drew Rosado recently attended Citrix Converge, the first developer conference hosted by Citrix to give partners early access to our new intelligent capabilities in Citrix Workspace. Rosado got his hands on the new microapps functionality at the conference and was able to easily integrate Epicor with Citrix Workspace and develop a microapp that notifies a user when one of their customers are on credit hold.
“I am not a developer, and I created a microapp,” Rosado said, emphasizing the simplicity of creating microapps from his experience at Citrix Converge.
CompuData plans to use the new microapps functionality in Citrix Workspace to enable their customers’ end-users to execute a majority of their daily activities from a single pane of glass. CompuData wants to help their clients focus on their work by removing the multiple clicks and switching between windows. As CompuData plans for 2020, they are eager to dive into the new intelligent features of Citrix Workspace to start developing microapps to help their customers transform their employee experience.
CompuData plans to build greater integration between their customers’ applications and build cross-application workflows that execute tasks across multiple back-end systems — all without the user needing to leave Citrix Workspace. Potential workflows include sales order approvals, new client notifications, past due payment notifications, low inventory notifications, and even a way for their clients to submit support tickets to CompuData’s help desk ticketing system for enhanced customer service.
“Our goal is to build microapps that will enable 80-90 percent of users daily activities to be executed without ever having to leave Citrix Workspace,” Rosado said. “We plan to build stronger integration between disparate systems to streamline our customers’ processes — all from a single pane of glass for the end-user.”
“These new intelligent features from Citrix Workspace will add new levels of simplicity and visibility for our customers to make intelligent business decisions,” Guarrieri said. “We have countless ideas of different microapps we can build that will improve our customer’s business process, while enabling us to bring a differentiated offering to market.”
