At Citrix, belong is a powerful word. We want our employees to feel like they belong here, so we strive to be highly inclusive while fostering a culture that enables everyone to bring their authentic selves to work.
That’s why we’ve joined with some of the world’s most influential business leaders to ignite systemic change and unlock the business, social, and economic value of people living with disabilities. We’ve signed on to the Valuable 500 Partnership, committing to ensure that disability inclusion is on our board agenda, to make at least one firm commitment to action, and to share that commitment with the business and the world.
The Valuable 500 Partnership is a campaign that aims to gain commitments from 500 private-sector organizations to support disability inclusion and equality. Launched at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Summit in Davos earlier this year, it’s the brainchild of Caroline Casey, an Irish activist and social entrepreneur who is legally blind.
Caroline left her job as a management consultant nearly 20 years ago to focus on disability business inclusion. She was the subject of a National Geographic documentary — Elephant Vision — for her trek across India, solo, on the back of an elephant to raise €250k for the National Council for the Blind of Ireland and Sightsavers. You can watch her TED Talk here.
“There is a disability inequality crisis, and nobody is pushing for change,” she told The Telegraph UK. “If you’re disabled, you’re 50 percent more likely to experience poverty. People are locked into their houses without work. We’re calling for people to put it on the board agenda.”
Disability inclusion and equality matter, and Citrix is proud to be among the companies that are leading this change. Our commitment to disability isn’t just limited to our Valuable 500 Pledge. We recently joined Inclusion Works, a community of corporations working together to share best and evolving practices for disability equality. And earlier this year, Citrix was named a Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion, scoring 90 percent on the 2019 Disability Equality Index® Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).
At Citrix, we are continuously working to create an environment of belonging, where we all feel that we fit in, can take risks, and are empowered to contribute to the business as ourselves. Our diverse workforce spans multiple generations, speaks more than 35 languages, and lives and operates in more than 40 countries.
As we collaborate with others who think and work differently, we break down barriers and overcome our preconceptions. It’s a powerfully creative process that enables us to innovate, makes our work more satisfying, and helps us better meet the needs of our customers.
