Do you like being scared? For me, it depends. I love scary movies. I also like visiting haunted houses this time of year. There is a certain thrill with both these activities. Yet at the same time, deep down inside, I know I’m not in any real danger.
On the other hand, I’ve seen real fear, and it isn’t very fun. I talk to a lot of IT admins and executives who come through our briefing centers. Many of them live in constant fear. What if I get hacked? Will a new OS update crash my existing environments? What if I choose the wrong vendor? What if the network goes down and I can’t get it back up? What if a disgruntled employee makes off with sensitive company information? Sounds like a nightmare right?
If you’ve been reading about Citrix Workspace lately, you probably know all about the amazing new capabilities focused on delivering a great employee experience. What you may not realize is all the ways Citrix Workspace can ease your fears with a comprehensive platform approach to workspace delivery.
Citrix Workspace offers a full suite of workspace services, including single sign-on, endpoint management, virtual apps and desktops, content collaboration, access control, SaaS and web security, analytics, and more. All these services share a common control and management plane, which equates to simplified operations, service agility, cost savings, and more, eliminating the nightmares you might have with a multi-vendor workspace strategy.
Citrix delivers industry-leading technology at every layer of the workspace stack, and we continue to develop these layers each and every month. Here are some of the new Citrix Workspace capabilities we added in October.
Virtual Apps and Desktops
As you’re wrapping up the year and planning for 2020 IT projects, don’t forget that LTSR 1912 is right around the corner. Read our blog post on preparing for the next Long-Term Service Release to jumpstart your deployment
Citrix Managed Desktops, our latest desktops-as-a-service offering, continues to enhance the way you deliver apps and desktops from Azure, making it simpler and faster. Since its launch in August, we have continually added new benefits for subscribers including:
- Day 1 support for Azure Virtual Desktop (formerly Windows Virtual Desktop): Now subscribers can deliver multi-session Windows 10 from Azure. Citrix Managed Desktops makes it easy for admins to incorporate multi-session VDAs side by side with personal and pooled desktops to give you the flexibility to deliver the best app and desktop experience for your workers. Learn more here.
- Bring Your Own Azure: The ability to manage Azure compute on behalf of the customer and simplify the billing process makes Citrix Managed Desktops unique. Now Citrix takes it one step further by enabling subscribers to connect their own Azure subscription to Citrix Managed Desktops. This gives admins the flexibility to use any Azure region or VM type and take advantage of any Azure credits or special pricing they may be entitled to.
- Expanded Platform Coverage: Citrix Managed Desktops now supports Windows 7 along with Win 10 EVD and Win 10 single session, as well as Windows Server 2019, 2012R2 along with Windows 2016. This provides the flexibility to deliver legacy apps and modern Windows experience from a single pane of glass.

Analytics for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on-premises; Analytics policy agent
We introduced support for on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops earlier this summer. In this release, we’re clarifying the role of the agent. Our “Analytics policy agent” is only needed when you want to configure policies and actions for your site. The agent is not needed to receive data and events. There’s no requirement to install the agent on delivery controllers to turn on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops as a data source.
Custom reporting now includes support for the “Time” dimension:
Other updates include audit log updates and select fixes. As always, for more details, check out the What’s New with Citrix Analytics page. One thing you’ll notice is that we’ve enhanced the Citrix Analytics documentation section and split out sections by platform, security, and operations to help you navigate more quickly to the information you’re looking for.
Many of you expressed excitement and interest in the upcoming debut of Citrix Analytics for Performance. We’re rewarding you for reading this far by offering you a sneak peek webinar that introduces the new service and demonstrates how it works. Click here to watch it now.

- Citrix Files for Mac 19.10 – Catalina Support: Users on macOS 10.15 Catalina will be able to use Citrix Files for Mac (but might need to reboot after upgrading).
