Driven by Data: Citrix, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing renew partnership

Winning in Formula One racing requires constant innovation so you can stay ahead of the pack. You have to have technology that can help to deliver insights off the track so you can accelerate performance on race day and claim your spot atop the podium.

In the lead-up to the United States Grand Prix on November 3, Citrix and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing have announced a multi-year extension of our partnership. We’ve have had a strong business relationship for more than a decade, and Citrix became a Red Bull Racing Innovation Partner in 2017.

Citrix provides key services to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, enabling team members to collaborate with each other across the globe in real time. The ability to access large files quickly, securely, and remotely is critical to success because only a limited number of team members are allowed at the track on race weekends.

Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix Hypervisor deliver access to data from the cars’ sensors, helping team engineers remotely monitor and analyze the health of the car in real-time. Citrix Hypervisor enables the team to virtualize high-quality 3D and CAD applications off site and across the world, eliminating delays that often come with graphics-intensive programs. Race teams must have these capabilities to succeed in the fast-paced F1 environment, which features 21 races on five continents during the season.

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing is currently working on a bespoke new portal for its supply chain that will enable suppliers to upload documents securely into the race team’s onsite project management system. This portal, supported by Citrix Gateway, will enable the team to securely collect huge amounts of data on every component on the car, helping them to identify and flag unusual wear.

Other projects Citrix and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing are collaborating on include using a virtual wind tunnel to establish how air flows around a car, delivering potentially huge cost savings. Simulations and virtualizations also save on resources and processing time while consistently delivering high-quality graphical outputs.

Together, Citrix and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing are pushing technical boundaries to unlock innovation and productivity and to improve performance on the track. With the renewal of our partnership, Citrix will focus on continuing to deliver the experience, security, and choice that drives a better way for the team to work.
