I want to start this post with a big thanks to Juergen Mueller, Jan Schaffner, and the rest of the SAP team for giving me the opportunity earlier this week to introduce Citrix Workspace at SAP TechEd as a co-innovation partner with the new SAP Graph restricted beta. Citrix Workspace provides unified, secure access to apps across the SAP Intelligent Suite. SAP Graph offers the opportunity to further enhance the Citrix and SAP product and solution partnership, benefiting our joint customers and partners.
Our live keynote segment from the show floor was indeed a lot of fun, but the SAP and Citrix teams are even more excited about what expanding our partnership means for customers. SAP Graph with Citrix Workspace will enable developers to quickly expand their Citrix Workspace microapp catalog across SAP systems and the intelligent suite of applications, including direct integrations with Ariba, Concur and SuccessFactors.
Why was this important, and what is a microapp?
Citrix Workspace is used by 100 million professionals each day to access mission critical business apps from SAP and other enterprise software leaders, securely on any device. The Citrix Workspace microapps service, one of the newest Citrix Workspace innovations, enables data from API feeds to present streamlined workflows from multiple applications, allowing you to focus on important tasks and actions and enhance your employee experience. SAP Graph will enable Citrix to create robust workflows and a more seamless microapp experience for end users as well as for developers connecting to SAP back ends in the cloud. It will offer a completely unified user experience on any device.
What did we show at SAP TechEd, and what does this mean for our customers?
During the TechEd keynote, Jan Schaffner and I introduced and showed the audience what’s possible with Citrix Cloud and the restricted beta version of SAP Graph. With a short demo, we outlined the unified, intuitive, and seamless end-user experience made possible with the Citrix Workspace app through data synchronization with SAP Graph. Citrix Workspace was able to present real-time data and information from a host of SAP intelligent suite apps.
We showed how Citrix Workspace can pull notifications and actions via SAP Graph, with simple microapps allowing an employee to easily complete tasks, approvals, and activities, while the integration with SAP Graph enabled corresponding SAP apps and data to be updated in real time. Easy-to-create microapp extensions can add further benefits — such as utilizing the Citrix Workspace virtual assistance add-on to enable intuitive search and simple access to sales quotes and records via SAP Graph.

What’s next for SAP and Citrix Workspace?
Citrix Workspace provides unified, secure real-time access to apps across the SAP Intelligent Suite. SAP Graph integration with Citrix Workspace offers the additional opportunity to build simple microapps to connect to additional SAP systems, including SAP Sales Cloud. For more background, reference our Citrix Workspace with intelligence announcement from Citrix Synergy 2019 and our intent to introduce Citrix Workspace microapp connectors with SAP Ariba, SAP Concur, and SAP SuccessFactors, in addition to dozens of leading apps from Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, and others later this year. Extending SAP services within the context of Citrix Workspace now enables customers to gain insights within the context of one comprehensive workflow so people can focus fully on their work.
Our TechEd demo was built with minimal effort, leveraging the intuitive microapp architecture of Citrix Workspace with the new SAP Graph common API architecture, allowing for easy and creative microapp development with SAPs entire intelligent suite of applications. As we expand this important Citrix and SAP partnership, Citrix Workspace will be able to offer simple, unified, and customizable user interfaces to enhance the employee experience.
Why are Citrix Workspace integrations with SAP applications a big deal?
To provide the highest level of service to our joint customers, it’s vital to have tight integrations with SAP’s entire suite of applications, from SAP Ariba to SAP Sales Cloud. SAP and Citrix are two of the largest workloads deployed by enterprises and are increasingly being hosted in hybrid-cloud and public-cloud deployments. With SAP apps being mission critical for most organizations and Citrix Workspace powering the majority of virtualized SAP workloads in the enterprise, the possibilities present exciting opportunities for our customers, service providers, and partners across the globe.
Using SAP Graph with Citrix Workspace offers the potential to greatly enhance and expand our planned microapp integrations with SAP solutions such as Ariba, Concur, and SuccessFactors. That’s great news for developers, solution architects, and organizations of all sizes because of the opportunity to simplify IT while further enhancing the employee experience.
Citrix Workspace with SAP Graph will enable developers to build workflows that tie more systems together, and the close microapp product integration will save Citrix Cloud administrators time while making employees more productive. As a co-innovation partner with SAP Graph, Citrix will be able to provide customer feedback and direction early in the Graph development cycle, making our partnership more valuable and useful for our joint customers.
What’s next for Citrix Workspace with intelligence?
Citrix Workspace transforms how people work by reimagining the employee experience and increasing productivity and engagement. With preconfigured, out-of-the-box microapps already announced for popular apps such as Ariba, Concur, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, and Tableau, Citrix Workspace makes it easy for users to focus on important tasks and activities, simplifying and automating workflows to make employees more productive and focused. We’re looking forward to more partnership announcements with leading industry partners and to continuing to add new Citrix Workspace microapps out of the box. Keep an eye on the Citrix Workspace intelligent experience to explore new use cases and view the latest resources and updates.
