With the release of iOS 13 (and iPadOS 13), Apple has for the first time provided native mouse support for standard Bluetooth and wired mice. It’s part of the new AssistiveTouch feature that can be enabled in the Accessibility settings. This works well for native iOS apps, where simple clicks and drags can replicate a finger gesture.
However, for a remote Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops session, the experience using a standard Bluetooth mouse with the AssistiveTouch feature enabled is limiting. Standard Windows features like right click menus, wheel scrolling, and hover events are not supported, resulting in a subpar experience.
On the other hand, the Citrix X1 Mouse with the latest Citrix Workspace app fully supports native Windows mouse features including right click, wheel scrolling, and hover events when running in a virtual session. This latest Workspace app, with Day 0 support for iOS 13/iPadOS 13, also plays nice with the AssistiveTouch feature for native iOS apps or when not in a Citrix virtual session. So the X1 Mouse lives on, continuing to improve Citrix Workspace secure access to any app.
The latest iPads provide a great laptop alternative, and with Citrix and the X1 Mouse, anyone can be productive anywhere.
