National Hotel Chain Has No Reservations About Cloud

As our CEO, Kirill Tatarinov, wrote in a blog post in January, our mission at Citrix is clear: “We will power a world where people, organizations and things are securely connected and easily accessible, so our customers can make the extraordinary possible.” Our strategy for making this happen is to secure, mobilize and optimize app and data delivery. Citrix Cloud is leading the way in executing this strategy.

We will power a world where people, organizations and things are securely connected and easily accessible, so our customers can make the extraordinary possible.

One customer that has embraced Citrix Cloud is InTown Suites, the largest extended-stay economy hotel company in the US. Citrix Cloud has both transformed how the company manages IT – more efficiently and securely – and made InTown Suites nimbler, an important attribute for a company that is expanding rapidly through new construction and acquisitions.

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with Jon Pertchik, InTown Suites’ CEO, and Jeff Robinson, the company’s IT Director.

Jon emphasized that Citrix Cloud delivered immediate operational benefits – ROI one would expect from simplifying IT infrastructure and investing in new applications – but has also contributed in less obvious, but crucial ways.  “Technology plays a big part in the experience we deliver to our guest. We’re providing a more secure and stable network that allows us to better serve guests,” he told me. Jon pointed out that PCI compliance, protection of corporate and customer data, and relieving hotel staff from the burden of managing multiple systems are among the advantages provided by Citrix Cloud. “Citrix Cloud allows us to function more efficiently. InTown Suites runs on controlling costs, leveraging our resources to a greater extent. Citrix Cloud allows us to do that,” he said.

Citrix Cloud allows us to function more efficiently. InTown Suites runs on controlling costs, leveraging our resources to a greater extent. Citrix Cloud allows us to do that.

Jeff re-engineered InTown Suites’ IT infrastructure and is responsible for ensuring that 189 properties in 22 states have reliable access to the applications and data that keep the entire hotel system up and running. He had used Citrix technologies for more than 15 years in other positions and was excited to bring them to InTown Suites. However, Jeff also wanted to take a cloud-first strategy that required less internal support and had the agility to keep up with the fast pace of change at the company. Citrix Cloud met his evaluation criteria…and then some.

“One of the biggest benefits of consuming the XenApp and XenDesktop Service on Citrix Cloud instead of on-premises is that we can make changes in our environment very quickly. In the past, I’ve had on-premises implementations of Citrix. We always had to do the updates, we had to do the management, and we had to be able to make those changes ourselves. Now, that’s managed for us by Citrix.”
