In my continuing efforts to provide the optimum optimization experience, I’m investigating how optimizing Windows 10 for VDI impacts performance.
To date, I’ve gone through and identified a slew of Windows 10 optimizations focused on the following areas:
As we have seen, these changes had an impact on single server scalability.
When we compared our Windows 10 results to Windows 7, we saw similar increases in density.
But what else will these optimizations have on the infrastructure and the user experience?
First, with Provisioning Services RAM Cache feature, we can drop IOPS requirements for Windows 10 by 90-95%.
Second, with Provisioning Services, we can improve Windows 10 boot time by up to 75%.
And third, with Provisioning Services, on top of the other optimizations, we can improve Windows 10 user logon time by roughly 50%.
Increasing server density, reducing storage requirements and improving the user experience are just a few of the things we’ve been able to validate with Windows 10 optimization on Citrix XenDesktop.
