Siemens’ NX and Teamcenter Visualization Software Now Available for VDI Usage, fully supported and certified for Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and XenServer

Citrix is pleased to share the news that our partner, major CAD and PLM software vendor, Siemens, announced yesterday they have certified and now support Citrix environments with Siemens NX™, the company’s flagship solution for integrated 3D computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE).

Siemens worked closely with NVIDIA to certify the deployment of Siemens NX™ in a private cloud using virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) with NVIDIA GRID™ vGPU™ technology.

As a result of this new certification, customers can now benefit from expanded platform of choice options, enhancing deployment flexibility and optimizing IT resources. Plus,VDI eliminates the need to install NX on a local client, which helps reduce IT support costs.

In fact,  Siemens and NVIDIA were already able to help one of our joint customers, Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI) successfully deploy NX in a private cloud environment. This was deployed on Dell hardware using Citrix XenDesktop with HDX 3D Pro and Citrix XenServer, which provides unmatched GPU technologies including vGPU. You can read about the details of the TAI Citrix deployment, here.

You can read the full Siemens press-release, which coincided with mutual partner NVIDIA’s major GPU technology conference GTC2014 here.

Siemens customers should verify full support matrix details relevant to their software with Siemens at the time of installation. The support matrix at the time of announcement includes:

Certified Application Versions:

Certified VDI Environments:

Citrix is a member of the Siemens partner program and has been provided with software to assist in development, configuration and support.

Like many of the other Citrix stories and demonstrations showcased at NVIDIA GTC 2014 this week, this is another fantastic example of our strong partnership with Siemens and NVIDIA, the strength of the technology, and the ability to deliver 3D apps in a virtualized environment today.
