New Midrange Citrix NetScaler MPX Appliances Offer Customers Unparalleled Price-Performance
New Appliances Hit Perfect Sweet Spot for Enterprise Customers, Providing Full Functionality at a Lower Cost and Half the Power Consumption of Competing Solutions
Santa Clara, CA » 9/15/2009 » Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTXS) today announced the addition of two new midrange appliances to its Citrix® NetScaler® MPX family of application networking systems. Leveraging the same high-performance NetScaler architecture already powering the worlds largest enterprise data centers, cloud providers and websites, the new NetScaler MPX 10500 and NetScaler MPX 12500 models bring the ideal blend of scalability and performance to enterprise customers, without the high cost of competing solutions. With the addition of these two new midrange models, Citrix now delivers the industrys most comprehensive and cost-effective product line scaling from small, single application virtual appliances to massive, high-end systems designed to power the worlds busiest websites. As a result, enterprise customers are no longer forced to choose between performance and functionality when building their web application delivery infrastructure.
The new midrange NetScaler MPX solutions provide between 5 and 8 Gbps HTTP performance with support for all NetScaler features, including L4-7 load balancing, application acceleration, server offload, application firewall security and more. In addition to high-performance and advanced features, the unique NetScaler MPX architecture drives the lowest power consumption in its class: nearly 50 percent more efficient than competitive offerings. The new NetScaler MPX appliances can also be deployed alongside NetScaler VPX virtual appliances, enabling next-generation datacenter architectures that marry the performance of hardware appliances with the agility and flexibility of software-based virtual appliances (see "Citrix NetScaler Goes Virtual”).
Enterprise web applications are becoming far more complex and demanding, but the price customers pay to deliver those applications with the best performance, security and reliability shouldnt have to increase at the same rate, said Klaus Oestermann, group vice pgesident and general manager, NetScaler Product Group at Citrix Systems. Our new midrange MPX appliances are built to deliver web applications with the performance customers expect from NetScaler, but at a price that is within reach of everyone.
NetScaler MPX Architecture
The NetScaler MPX architecture incorporates advanced, multi-core Intel processors and runs NetScaler nCore technology to process multiple complex operations on each application workload in parallel at multi-gigabit speeds. Leveraging multiple CPU cores enables numerous web application delivery features to run concurrently with no significant impact on performance. The architecture also supports the consolidation of functions that have traditionally been available only on discrete solutions, including SSL VPNs and application firewalls. NetScaler MPX enables enterprises to reduce the number of disparate devices in their infrastructure to reduce complexity and increase overall datacenter resiliency.
Pricing and Availability
Citrix NetScaler MPX 10500 and MPX 12500 appliances are available now through Citrix Solution Advisors worldwide. Pricing begins at $42,000. Customers can upgrade from a 10500 to a 12500 with a simple software license upgrade, providing unparalleled flexibility and avoiding costly and unnecessary hardware replacements.
