Citrix Accelerates Growth Momentum in Japan
More than 4 million in Japan use Citrix Virtualization, Networking and Cloud Computing Technologies to Deliver IT as an On-Demand Service for Japanese Corporations
TOKYO, Japan » 9/4/2009 » Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS) today underscored its commitment to long-term growth in the Japanese market, outlining details of next strategies to enable Japanese companies to simplify IT through proven desktop virtualization, server virtualization, network optimization and cloud computing solutions.
More than 4 million users in Japan are already using Citrix virtualization and networking technologies today, serving over 16,000 companies which include NTT Communications, OMC Card, Asahi Kasei, Kirin Business Systems, Osaka Gas, Olympus, Molex, JTB Cargo, Fuji City Government, Suwa City and Kyoto University. Every day, Citrix products like XenDesktop, XenApp, XenServer, NetScaler and GoToMeeting help Japanese customers reduce IT costs, improve security, simplify desktop management, increase business agility and improve work-life balance for employees.
Speaking from the Citrix office in Tokyo, Citrix President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Templeton said: Japan is one of our fastest growing regions and is strategically an extremely important market for Citrix. Japanese corporations across a broad range of industries are leveraging Citrix virtualization and networking solutions, from the datacenter to desktop, to simplify and streamline their IT infrastructures. As Japanese customers seek to take advantage of the current market conditions to enable global growth, Citrix is supporting these business strategies with innovative solutions that enable competitive advantage and allow our customers to thrive in a new era of enterprise IT.
Citrix opened its first office in Japan 12 years ago. In addition to a broad range of sales, marketing and support staff, Citrix Japan today is home for an advanced R&D center-of-excellence that develops and localizes Citrix products for Japan, as well as the rest of the world. Going forward, Citrix plans to continue strengthening its virtualization, networking and cloud computing products for Japanese customers and continue growing its Japan operations.
Mr. Templeton added: In Japan, just as elsewhere else, the macroeconomic environment remains challenging, with tight budgets even as customer and user IT demands intensify, and the complexity of enterprise IT rises. Citrix solutions enable a complete shift in the way customers think about IT, simplifying operations and allowing them to deliver IT as an on-demand service. At a time when cost concerns remain extremely high and flexibility is a key demand, such an approach can help Japanese companies achieve their domestic and global business objectives.
In Japan, Citrix revenue grew year-on-year in the second quarter at 12%, despite the tough economic climate. Michael King, President of Citrix Systems Japan K.K., said: Citrix has a close and productive relationship with Japanese partners, as is evidenced by the companys recent OEM agreement with Fujitsu, under which Fujitsu will integrate Citrix XenDesktop with high-definition HDX Technology into their virtual workplace solutions. Going forward, we will continue to build on a broad range of strong alliance relationships with our strategic partners in Japan, coupled with the existing strength of our large customer base and best-in-class solutions in virtualization and networking.
